The video of The Impaler was excellent for 3 basic and succinct reasons: #1. It was factual #2. It was comparative #3. It was dramatic in both presentation and content. The amount of work which was invested in this project is evident by the "hands on" approach which was given. Professional technique, is rare when combined with actual marketability and actualization to formulate a prized package of perfectionism.

I would just like to correct what the man who reviewed this tape said about Vlad Dracula Tepes(prononced tse-pesh)'s father Vlad Dracul. Vlad Dracul was never reffered to as Vlad the Evil, he was reffered to as Vlad the Dragon, and The Dragon but never Vlad the Evil. In Romanian the word "dracul" is derived from the latin word "draco" which means drangon, and yes, it also means evil, but for Vlad Dracul it had a positive connotation meaning that the word was used for dragon, not evil. Vlad Dracul was called the Dragon because he was a member of The Order Of The Dragon wich fought for Christianity. Vlad Dracul was a good man,he was not evil, and neither was his son Vlad Dracula Tepes. So please people do some research or al least not a little about the subject before you open your mouth about it, and stop trying to turn my country, Romania's national hero into a monster. Dracula did what he had to do to unite his country and drive out the Turrks. He was a very noble man.
Excellent historical on Vlad the Impaler June 17, 2003 Jason Sand (Toronto, Canada) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've seen "the Impaler" on a Canadian TV network. If other productions on Vlad the Impaler that I've seen do not separate Vlad's identity from his father's (Vlad the Evil), "the Impaler" does. This function makes it unique in comparison with other documentaries on Vlad, which use as the basic building premises Bram Stoker's story. "the Impaler" shows the house Vlad was born in, standing high in its pride, today, the ruins of the Court Town of Tirgoviste - where Vlad lived in three separate times, when he reigned over Valachia, the medieval Castle of Hunedoara - the only castle that ever connected Vlad to Transylvania, and most importantly documents Vlad had signed as the Ruler of the Principality of Vallachia, not Transylvania. I never knew that there is a Castle of Hunedoara where Vlad lived, nor did I see before documents signed by Vlad.
Awful "documentry on Vlad Dracula" May 20, 2003 John R. Duffer (New York, NY USA) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Don't waste your time or money on this one. Dull and boring and over priced for what you get - only 47 minutes. Skip it.
